“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.” - Proverbs 3:13-16
As depicted from the Bible verse above, Wisdom is sometimes personified as a woman in the Bible. Why? Because wisdom is like a woman - not as complicated as people make it out to be, yet simple enough to be misunderstood. It is the simplest things of life which are often the most difficult for people.
Support
In many Christian teachings, women are viewed as essential help mates to men, exemplified in the creation of Eve as a help mate for Adam (Genesis 2:18). It is only when Adam lost his ability to lead and Eve descended from Adam’s leadership that paradise was lost.
Motherhood, Nurturers, and Keepers Of The Home
Women are often seen as having special roles in nurturing life and caring for others, but the most important part of nurturing life is keeping her home. To be a keeper of the home means exactly that: to keep the home. A home is just a house if it is not kept.
“That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” - Titus 2:4-5
Role in Spreading Faith
Women were last at the cross, first at the tomb, and the first to be told to, “Go and tell others.” (John 20:17)
Naturally, women are more emotional beings, which makes them exceptionally spiritual beings, even though they don’t always recognize it themselves. Often times women will “just have a feeling” about something and they are the most stubborn when it comes to believing their feelings because for women, their feelings are what are real. Depending on how women utilize this trait, it is both a great strength or a weakness. It is a great strength because when they are convicted in Christ they will absolutely not doubt their faith. It can be a weakness because women can remain attached to their emotions even if the reality of the situation doesn’t match their emotions.
Women play key roles in teaching and passing down faith to children to serve as examples of devotion and service to God.
Decency and Modesty
Decency and modesty is more about reclaiming self-control over how women present themselves to the world. Choosing to dress and act modestly can be considered as a form of empowerment, allowing women to decide how they want to be perceived without feeling pressured by societal expectations of appearance or sexuality.
“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” - 1 Peter 3:3-4
Quiet Strength
A quiet woman demonstrates inner peace and humility just as much as a man. As the saying goes, “Whoever is loudest is often the most insecure.” Loud women are often masculine and to any godly man that knows who he is and where he is going, he will avoid loud women. This is not to say that women can’t know what they want or shouldn’t be assertive, but to be exceptionally overt in communication style is often a sign that a woman will try to control a man’s life.
“Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” - 1 Timothy 2:11-12
